Summertime is over and we’re back in school—again. A new year is ahead of us full of opportunities and happenings. We prepare ourselves for another 183 days of work and play, hardships and friendships, good times and bad. But these memories slip by as quickly as the year does and sometimes are forgotten forever. The Hornet staff hopes that we’ve successfully captured a few of these moments in the pages of this yearbook—the events, people, places, and emotions that are part of Aspermont High School, from the beginning to the end. Share Our Sports With Us I think I am Ronnie Clifton Coaches New Names 67 69 Junior and Senior Prom Just You and I 71 Prophecy By The Juniors As the Seniors are wondering what the future holds for them, the Junior Class has its own ideas about their future. Please join us at the Class of 1984 ten-year reunion. The year is 1994. As we look through the crowd, we see some familiar faces. Look, from serving in the Arm Forces, he has bought the Peacock Ranch; I guess Jay Loving spent so much time there in his high school days, it was natural for him to return. Dana, did you see the new building as we came into town? Tracy Warner has bought out Rutherford Bookkeeping and has re-named it Warner Bookkeep- ing. It seems that Tracy has her own ideas about the accounting business. I noticed the famous Dr. Stephenie Andrews as I walked in. I’ve heard that she is an excellent psychiatrist, specializing in helping people overcome depression and pessimistic attitudes. By the way, I haven’t seen Shirley Mitchell yet. Oh, she didn’t make it; she is in the Bahamas soaking up the sun. She will fly back when summer comes on her own airline Tweety Bird Airlines. Have you seen Missy Leatherwood? Yes, I have; all 7 feet and 5 inches of her. I guess her growth spurt over did it. I saw her on T. V. slam dunking for the World Champion Philadelphia 76ers. Are those chimes I hear? It must be. Here comes Pope Robert , alias Robert Farley, straight from the Vatican. I guess he did decide to follow in his father’s footsteps. By the way Dana, who is sponsoring our class reunion. Roland Martin, along with Uncle Roe’s. Mo willed it to Roland Martin when he died. Roland has changed the name from Mo’s to Roe’s. Roland Martin is now a household name in Aspermont. Look over there. Who’s that guy in the red suit? It’s Bill Gholson, the famous rodeo star. I guess he followed in his peer idol’s footsteps, Lane Smith. Susan King, better known to the patients of the General Hospital, as the Angel of Mercy at Port Charles and is the head nurse of her floor. Do you see David Fincher anywhere? Yes, I saw him arrive in his Rolls-Royce Limousine. He owns a string of Hil- ton Hotels. The newest location is in Jayton, Texas. Have you heard about Jodi Rash? She has been awarded Mother of the year by the FHA organization and several top magazines. The only person I haven’t seen is Bevette Richardson. I saw her as I came in. She has been awarded Little Hustler of the NBA. She accompanied this high honor by averaging 20 tumbles per game. Here’s Kassy Loving. We wondered which one she would raise first; Michael or Jay. Craig McCauley is the new owner of Hunt’s T.V. Repair and Ambulance Service. Well the 1984 class had some interesting professions. It is almost like being a freshman all over again. Just as we adjusted to life in high school, now we must adjust to life in the outside world. We will all have many challenges to face on the long road of life. Some of us will enter such fields as armed services, nursing, accounting, farming, and business. Others will fulfill their lives as wives and mothers. We realize that it took the support of our parents, teachers, and friends to help us achieve our goals. Dad and Mom, you gave me the love I needed for the past 17 years to make it here tonight. Teachers, you have tried to supply the knowledge that I will need. Friends, you have been there to share the times, the good as well as the bad. Coming from a small town such as Aspermont, it is a little scary leaving the security of our parents, but I would like to leave you with this challenge: I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something; and what I should do and can do, by the Grace of God I will do. Tracy Warner Mr. Dunn, Mr. Holcomb, teachers, parents, friends, and fellow classmates. As I stand here tonight and look back upon all that I’ve been through with my class I remember the laughter and the tears, the joys and the sorrows, the victories along with the defeats. There was the thrill of beating our archrival, Knox City, and the agony of losing to Crowell. There was the joy of preparing for Homecoming, and the sorrow as we watched it blow away. I remember the laughter of the little things we did that showed mischief in all of us, and the tears of sharing special moments for the last time: choosing our class rings, picking out our invitations, signing our memory books, baccalaureate, and finally the moment we’ve been waiting for, Graduation. As I leave all this behind and enter my career in the Air Force with the goal to further my education with a major in Architecture, I will never forget the memories and my friends in the class of 84. Thank you and God bless you.
