SEATED: Terri Myers, Cyndi Mancille. Peace??? . . . Second Ending??'2 The Hornet Band was the big boost to the Hornet spirit: always on hand at pep rallies to add that special excitement. Always on the go: that was the 1973 Hornet band. Football games, marching practice, sec- tion rehearsals, raising money, lots and lots of work. After marching season it started all over again with the concert and stage bands. There were contest festivals in Sweetwater and Jay- ton, U.I.L. in Abilene and finally the big one in Enid, Oklahoma. The FHA strived to serve the community with projects such as a clean-up campaign and a fund -raising drive for Muscular Dystrophy. The year was climaxed by a FHA-FFA awards banquet. Two of these teams also placed at the State contest held at Texas A8LM University. The Poultry team placed 16th and the Dairy Cattle team placed Slst, At District contest, Angela Mc- Coy won the high point individual award. In addition to these contests, FFA was active in showing livestock, At the Jones County Fair at Anson, Danny Clark placed lst in the Brangus classp Angela McCoy, lst in Charolaisg Billy Morrow, lst in Brahmang Tommy Graham, 2nd in Chester White Barrow and was Reserve Grand Champion. Steve Yarborough and Gary Cowan won lst and 2nd respectively in tractor driving. In the Fall, the FFA competes in Leadership Training and this year placed in three of the seven contestsg Ir, Farm Skills, 3rd in Districtg Farm Radio, 3rd in Districtg and FFA Quiz, lst in District and 4th in Area, Hornet Track Stars Travel to State M eet Aspermont High School was represented at the state track meet in Austin by Dana Hight, Vicki Jackson, and Brenda Rimes. After the Junior's long hours of hard work, the Seniors sat down to enjoy the festivities.
