C. - Bill Morgan, the pride of Aspermont Junior High School and a resident of Peacock, Tex. , proved to be the best speller in Texas during the 1964 contest season. Young Morgan, who represented the Wichita Falls District in a project sponsored by the Wichita Falls Record News and Times was the last speller in the contest from the Lone Star State when he ranked as number nine in the national meet. The other eight spellers had already been eliminated when Bill stumbled over the word exegesis.
