Asotin High School students would like to thank the citizens of Asotin County for their support in the past and for the future they have built for us. Our first school in Asotin was built in 1881 on 3rd St. The present high school, built in 1928, cost about $25,000. From 1899 through 1977, 1,133 students have graduated from the Asotin School District. On February 4, 1975, voters approved a $760,000 bond issue after it had failed the previous November, with $1,500,000 state funding. Cost of the new 41,650 square foot junior-senior high school complex, which will accommodate 300 students, is $2,225,000. The ground breaking ceremony was on May 26, 1976. Early in June of this year the old structure was torn down. Architect for the new school is Gerald Mosman of Gessel-Smith-Mosman in Walla Walla. General contractors are S.G. Morin Sons Inc., G.M. Mechanical Inc., and John's Electric Inc. Students moved into the Ag. Shop in December. The Asotin Junior-Senior High School will be completed for next fall's school term. 3
