We chose as our theme,--'In An Old-Fashioned Garden,W We worked long and hard making pap- er flowers of all sizes and colors. We made a wishing well with a reflection ef- fect created by mirrors. We had a gray garden wall and lots of pine boughs. We were very proud of the beautiful effect it created when we had finished. The tables were decorated with light green satin streamers and red roses. Dark green napkins and pink programs and candles carried out our theme effectlvelv. After dinner, several short talks and musrcal numbers were presented. This will always be remembered as one of the highlights of the year. 4 ji i f SH- I-IUI lla' UFFICE 71 M. We, the senior class, will to all of the other classes our love for our teachers, our ability to get work ln on time, and our high marks in hopes that it will lessen their worr es. Jointly and severally, to the faculty we will all of the pain, sorrow and agony of seeing this honorable, brilliant, and remarkable class leave the haunts of this old school- Let's take a journey ren years into the future to see what the graduating class of 1955 might be doing then. You'll need to bring along nothing more than your imaginations, so all aboard for 1965. Here we are in Askov on a warm sunny day. What a busy town, and how it has grown. The first thing that is called to our attention is the new hospital. We have more time than money so let's stop and visit our friend Freida, who for ther past years has advanced to the position of superintendent of nurses. Well, we had a nice visit with Freida, but because of her busy schedule we couldn't stay on . gAs we come off the hospital grounds, a big billboard catches our eye. It says in big letters, nRiver Hill Speedway,n stating that Darrell Madsen, the speed champion will be performing today. we can't miss this. It's really not surprising to see him in a place like this. He must have gotten his practice during noon hours when he went to high school. We talked with Darrell after the show and later went back to town as we wanted to get some clothes that met with the new 1965 styles. A fashionab e little clothing store meets our eyes. nBev's Apparelu. The name sounds familiar doesn't it? Let's go in and investigate. You guessed it. There stands Beverly by a long rack of skirts. She seems to know just what looks best on us. Well we feel better now and we look a little more up to date. But these clothes are just like the ones Beverly wore to school. Her fashions were always ahead of Askov fashions we thought. After going on such a shopping spree our funds are getting low. We have some travelers checks but I doubt they are worth anything as they are of course, ten years old. So here we are in Sand- stone in the bank trying to get them renewed, and here is Elsie to wait on us. She is now working in he bank--part time that is. The rest of her time is pretty well taken up at home. Raising kids is a big job--especially when you have six of them. . In a television studio we find a big show being produced, called the nMonette Comedy Hourn. Duane, the master of ceremonies has become quite a cele- brity these days, especially with the girls. His guest star is Paul Petersen, who has taken the place of George Gobel. It seems Paul's rendition of nHerman the Goatn and nAlbert and His Pet Flean amuses his audiences as much as it amused us when he gave it in school. It would be fun to know how many of our seniors of 1955 stayed close to home. So let's spend some time in Pine County before we journey on farther with our imaginations. Let's visit some of our northern towns. Speaking of towns, we are surprised to see Sextonville, formerly known as Kerrick, until Tim Sexton took -over. Tim now runs the grocery store, a feed store, a lumber mill and a r brewery. Besides this, he is the justice of the peace, the president of the Sex- tonvil e Chamber of Commerce and last but not least the mayor of the town. On a,large farm called the Berglund Contour Plowing Experimental Farm, we find Edward, who has devoted his time to experimenting with his new plows. He has gone into town this afternoon to take in the Bruno Rodeo and Stock Show. Let's go in and see it too. Well, we did, and guess who we found managing it? Delores Krueger. She's doing everything from trick riding to bedding horses. we also ran into another member of the senior class. Deanna Budd also stayed in Bruno to children of her own school. She's doing A little farther and we also meet her Rendevous. It is a we hear a familiar voice. It's the from the radio station, KDAL. She spend the pay check of a school bus driver. Besides four she has an additional twenty as she runs a day nursery a very nice job north is a very husband. Their favorite eating of it too. cozy little restaurant. Inside we see Helen little restaurant is called the North Shore place of tourists. While in the restaurant, voice of Frances Dahlgren, and it's coming is known by the name of, not nFamousn, but NFamousern. If your imaginations are still with us we will go out of our state and head for the west. Here we find Patrick in San Francisco behind a big mahoganny desk. His present work is writing articles for the nBe Healthyn magazine. He is also writing a book on unsuccessful dieting, taken from his own experiences. Sy via is teaching physical education in one of the prominent schools in the city. She is very proud of her many trophies, expecially the one she received when she and her students gave a gymnastic exhibition in Helsinki. We find Barbara Johnson in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she is dancing all her cares away. She is one of the top instructors at the Arthur Murray Stud os. She teaches t e Lindy, which has been revived and made popular again. In Galveston, Texas we find Bobby Thomsen, who has a taxi service there. to our surprise he is somewhat taller. No, I guess he's not, I see a stack of Sears Roebuck catalogs under him. In his spare time he coaches the family bas- ketball team. His five boys are wonderful players and his four girls make dar- ling cheerleaders . tx r TJ- -3 xx x Also in Texas is another one of the seniors of 1955. - -rene who is cook- ing for an oil crew out on the Texas plains. Among the men in the crew is her husband. It looks as if she's leading a very exciting life. Gerry Knapp has gotten to be a very familiar name especially with the lover of country music. Here he is in Tennessee, the star of the Grand Ole He has Webb Pierce beat by a long shot. Oprey. In a fashionable beauty salon in New York City we find Joy who has monopo- lized the cosmetic industry. She specializes in the mascara and lipstick field. Her new Kurlash mascara that you can't cry off and her new Glow in the dark lip- stick that you can't kiss off has really made a hit with the women in America. Mardelle who is also out east is in a big brick school building behind a pair of hornrimmed spectacles. She goes to school here, but this time as a teaching fifth grade arithmetic. She's doing well at it too. Barbara Ambers lives in a great big house with black shutters for her many cats which she cares for. It seems she prefers cats also busy writing a novel called nForever Ambersu. Barbara Hanson is really seeing the world these days. She is ess for an international airways. But from the looks of it she long as she is engaged to one of the pilots. teacher, all alone except to men. She is an airline host- won't be there Arthur Jensen is a very busy man. He's busy studying to be a lawyer. His A good background in law from Askov High School is helping him tremendous should have no trouble convincing any female jurors he might run into, he has turned into quite a ladie s man. In Rochester we discover Jack has a very suitable job. He drives lance for the citv hospital. Thanks to his ability to take any curve at miles per hour and drive through anything, he has saved many lives. y. rt because an ambu- seventy Carl Jensen has a very profitable trucking line. He hauls cattle for central Minnesota farmers. In fact he's known as the biggest bull shipper for miles around. Back in Askov we find Richard happily married and situated on a comfortable little farm northeast of town. He's taking his time spending his millions he made on some chemical invention for gas concerns. I guess there was at least one person who got something out of chemistry class. We find Les ie with his badge and billy club patrolling the streets of Askov seeing that the laws are obeyed. Since he has become the village cop of Askov, there has been considerable less Uslewingn on corners. There is only one senior left---we can't seem to locate him anywhere. But as we mail a letter to the folks back home, we notice the flashy new postage stamp while putting it on the envelope. The man on the stamp in none other that -----you guessed it----Bill Haynes. We are wondering just how accurate our imaginations could be, but the only thing we can do is wait ten years and find out. Anyway, it's been fun, don't you think?? gefofze We 74016 M'iul1 ' WWII D- .,. 3 , TAA . -.5 M W ASKOV fffADJUSTABLE SIGN OGMPANY Signs of all kinds 'AMERICAN PUBLISHING COMPANY Quality Printing 4'4ASKOV CO-OP ASSOCIATION Agricultural Produce 8 Supplies i'ASKOV DRAY LINE ASKOV HARDWARE STORE iiASKOV VARIETY STORE 'f'CHRISTENSEN'S BAKERY We specialize in Wedding Cakes iffCO-OP MERCANTILE ASSOCIATION Groceries, Meats, Dry goods RYRFERNDALE NURSERY Wild Flowers and Ferns f44FREDERIKSEN'S BLACKSMITH SHOP Machinery Repair.
