Lettermen Obtaining the coveted letter A means fulfilling the requirements which are different for each sport. Football Coach Robert Bieber awarded 22 letters to his 1956 squad, He requires senior lettermen to have played in 12 quarters, juniors in 16, and sophomores must have made appearances in 20. Seniors were Jim Booth, Dave Corts. Dick Fassett. Bob Gilchrist. Phil Hall. jack Kessler. Ed Limbach. Gordon McBride. Mike Mihalick. Bob Rowley, and Dick Teter. Six juniors won a varsity Au: Steve Candela, Larry Jepson. Dennis Minick, Wilbur Jenner, Ted Osowski, and Dominic Volpone. Earning monograms as sophomores were Harris Eberle, Wayne Harley, Harley Kananen, Terry Shaw, and Jim Spellman. Bob Gilchrist was captain of the '56 squad and also was chosen most valuable player. In receiving a letter in basketball. players must play in at least one-third of the total quarters. Basketball mentor R. A.
