Band As the official band accompanying Rithard Kis- ter, Ashtabula Soap Box Derby winner, AHS band members marched in the National Soap Box Derby parade in Akron August 10. lVith a busy summer behind them, bandsmen returned to school to greet football crowds with hye half-time shows. Together with five other bands, they trekked to Edgewood for the Annual Marching Review October Ill, A marching routine and an Abe Lincoln show were presented. llanies Powell took time Ulll from his regular stint as hrst chair oboe player to lead the band as Drum Major at the football games. Assisting him were high stepping majorettes, Linda Decker, Pat Locke, and Sue Kay Ridgway. Aided by a progress chart, band members prac- ticed for their Mid-M'inter Band Concert in january antl for the Annual Spring Concert in May. Adding zest to the pep assemblies and pre-elec- tion rally, two Pep bands entertained students dur- ing the year. Senior Pep Band members were David House, Pete Murray, James Powell, Gordon Stanley, and Judy XVeir.
