This year of 1953 marks the one4hunclrecl and fiftieth anni- versary of the State of Ohio and the City of Ashtabula. In 1803, both received their charters and long since have grown inclustrial- ly, educationally. ancl culturally. To commemorate these significant events. we have usecl the Ohio Sesquicentennial as a hasis for our theme. Since the state colors are scarlet and gray, we have used them throughout the hook, anal the official sesquicentennial symbol appears on the title page. lve have emleavorerl to present pictures from the past as a contrast to life in toclafs schools. lve hope that your 1953 Dar? He is the axle around which rotates the wheel of school-life. Directing teachers and assisting students to achieve the goals to which they aspire are his chief obligations. His heartwarming understanding and friendly counsel will long he remembered hy all who have come under his tutel- age.
