F.H.A. The F.H.A., a national organization, was organized under the direc- tion of Mrs. Hood, our Home Economics teacher. Mrs. Tucker was elected our club mother. Our class has 52 members. Irene Riechman In October a meeting was held in St. Louis to elect officers for this section. We had a meeting and party every month and in February We had a party for the F.F.A. The Future Farmers of America, or F.F.A., as it is more commonly called, was organized this year with the membership of twenty-eight, under the sponsorship of Mr. Konrad. Bill Evans The regular F.F.A. meetings were held on Thursday nights once' a month. The primary aim of the organization is the development of Agri- culture leadership, cooperation, and citizenship. The F.F.A. is sponsoring an award for the outstanding senior of the year. The pest killing contest which is sponsored every year is scheduled to end March 1. --Y ---- - - --ap!! Basketball Queen The campaign for basketball queen was an exciting event for every- one. The four highest contestants and their escorts were as follows: Mary Kay Ray Charles Robbins Carolyn May Jerome Novak Carol Waldman Kenneth Conley Patsy Johnson Paul Skibinski Before the queen was crowned a fashion show was presented. Clothes that had been worn in the 1800's and the 1900's were modeled and the new styles of 19501 were modeled following these. A cake walk was performed with the music of the Hungary Five serving as stopping time. Patsy Johnson was crowned Miss Basketball Queen of 1950 by our coach, Charles Heath. Her train carriers Were Carol Millspaugh and Floyd Wreath. The crown bearer was Bobby McChesney and the gift bearer was Margie Smith. Evelyn Schubach presented the queen with an overnight traveling case. The attendants received a silver necklace with a basketball on it and the queen received a gold necklace. Joe and Ivan Pitchford played the march for the contestants, their escorts, and the queen. This occasion was sponsored by the Ashley cheerleaders and the money raised by this project was used in paying the expenses for the Junior-Senior banquet. By Joan Keen
