The purpose of this pub- lication is to encourge young people to write creatively. The Rhetor consists of poems, short stories, essays, sketches, and—a new addition this year—illustrations. Contributions from local merchants and the sale of the magazine itself make possible the publication. The staff is composed of thirteen seniors who meet during third period each day. The club consists of members outstanding in leadership, scholarship, character, and willingness to serve others. This year’s projects included setting up a beauty parlor for the children at the Orthopedic Hospital, ushering at Community Concerts and the Little Theater, selling Claxton fruit cakes and Christmas cards for the Amer- ican Field Service. Civinettes were privileged to have Barbara Knoedler, exchange student from Germany, as an honorary mem- ber this year.
