Since its organization in the spring of 1962, the Key- ette Club has served the school and community in a variety of ways. This year’s projects have included main- tenance of the school clinic, the sale of light bulbs, and sale of American Field Service Christmas cards. In ad- dition, the Keyettes have visited the County Home each month and have also rolled bandages for the Cancer So- ciety. Membership in the Keyette Club is based on char- acter, scholarship, leadership, and willingness to serve. This organization, which is sponsored locally by the Gastonia Kiwanis Club, has as its motto “We build.” Meetings are held three times each month. Included in the membership are young men of all three classes, who are elected by the club. The mem- bers render various services to the school, such as man- agement of the student store, and operation of concession stands for Ashley’s athletic events. As special projects, the club painted the seats in the stadium and published a program for basketball. Their annual “Dollar-For-A- Scholar” drive provides a scholarship for a deserving senior. “We Build” is the club motto. Page Ninety-nine
