The band participates in all local parades and patriotic celebrations. The mixed chorus has appeared many times during the year before the Civic Clubs. Both organizations participate in the state music contest. For seven consecutive yesrs the band has won an Excellent rating. For the past two years the chorus has won the top rating and has furnished a number of participants to sing in the AlLState Chorus at the State Festival in Greensboro. Mr. L. O. McCollum is the director of instrumental music at Ashley Senior High and the three Junior Highs. Miss Josephine Osborne is teacher of vocal music.
