MONITORIAL COUNCIL The Monitorial System at Ashley Senior High is responsible for all student conduct outside the classrooms. Through the years a high standard has been set for conduct in the corridors, in the cafeteria, on the campus, and at all athletic events. Ashley Senior High has been known throughout the state and the entire Southeast for this success in student leadership. The adopted code for school citizen- ship is: “We will never bring disgrace on this, our school, by any act of dishonesty or discourtesy. “We will uphold the ideals and traditions of our school, both singly and together, trying always to encourage others to respect our standards and the physical structure of our school. “We will revere and obey the school’s customs and do our best to incite a like respect in others. “We will strive unceasingly to quicken our sense of honor and to develop pride in student participation and leadership. “In all these ways we will transmit this school greater, better, and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.” The monitorial body is made up of elected representatives from each homeroom. The Monitorial Council is the executive organization for the body of monitors. Through the functioning of these two groups, more than thirteeen hundred students are integrated into an earnest and cooperative program of citizenship.
