It is a sine qua non of Ashley Senior High philosophy that good citizenship is the first objective for an educa- tion. Through the medium of the Student Council, the homerooms and the class organizations are coordinated into a program of student initiative and student leader- ship. Four major committees function under the Student Council. The Customs Committee acts in a leadership capacity for the promotion of an Honor System in Ashley High. They strive to keep before the students the high standards of scholarship and extracurricular achievements which have become traditional with the school. The Student Center Committee attempts to lead the student body to accept its responsibility for the gov- ernment within the Center. The Building and Grounds Committees promote student pride in the appearance of Ashley Senior High School. We the students of Ashley High School believe that the following ideals should be upheld and maintained as a part of the educational program of each person in the student body. 1. High school is an institution of learning and a place for young people to train for a better way of living. 2. The Honor System should be the basis of all con- duct. Every effort should be given to the develop- ment of good citizenship based upon personal honor. 3. The school is widely known because of the things for which it has stood and for which it stands.
