Ashley High School includes many opportunities for service. The members of the Library Club serve the school by giving hundreds of hours of work to the administration of the library. That makes it possible for the library to stay open longer hours and to render more individual attention to the students. The service rendered during 1956-57 has been outstanding. SCIENCE CLUB Membership in the Science Club is confined to those students whose major interest is in that field. Regular meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday evenings of each month. The programs feature new and varied subjects in the field of scientific research. THE KEY CLUB The Key Club was organized at Ashley Senior High in 1955. It is sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club. Mem- bership in the club is selective and it is based upon Leadership, Scholarship, and Character. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Key Club members define “This is the Way’’ as follows: 1. We promote the adoption and the application ol higher standards in scholarship, sportsmanship and social standards. 2. We strive to develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizen- ship. 3. We organize to provide a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render unselfish service, and to build better communities. 4. We cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which makes possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and good will. On the 1956-57 roll there are eighty active members. On each second Thursday a meeting is held at high school. The program is devoted to problems of guidance.
