The work done in both the instrumental and vocal fields attracts much attention in the community and in the state. 1 he Mixed Chorus received a Superior rating in the District Contest in Salisbury. Sixteen members of the chorus were selected to sing in the State Festival in Greensboro. I hev were: Earnest Brooks, Jimmy Brown, Bill Chitwood, Lee Dixon, Bob Erwin, Buddv Hatcher, Don Howe, Charles McSwain, Alma Baker, Leila Eden, Berdie Gregg, Joy Robinson, Bernice Speer, Gaynell Spencer, Theresa Ward, Emily Williams. Fhe hand received an Excellent rating at the District Conference and a Superior rating at the State Contest. Mr. L. O. McCollum is the hard working Director of Instrumental music and Miss Josephine Osborne is teacher of Vocal music.
