I 44 Iliff' Q Dear Editor As our school days are rapidly coming to a close we are filled with Joy and sorrow Joy because we will not have to worry about home work projects oral speeches and tests Qno studying just before the belly joy because we won t have to come in our spare time to make up the things we missed when we were absent and of course well be relieved of our biggest worry report card day But with all joy there comes sorrow sorrow because we must leave all our classmates and teachers who have meant so much to us W will also leave behind the pep meetings Christ mas shows driving training and also the fun we had cheering our team on to victory It is with these mixed feehngs I would like to thank everyone who has helped to make my high school days very enJoyable ones Your truly Janet Fritz Dear Editor I would like to congratulate the members of the senior class who put forth their effort in order to make the class elections a success. This system enables the students to be aware of their rights and responsiblity as voters when they become of age I hope this idea will be carried on b, the future classes of Ashley High School- it will certainly be beneficial to them Sincerely Rosemary Brown Dear Editor: In the course of a person s life one must at some time take stock of what is going on around him- I have taken stock of what is going on in our school and other schools Ihave discovered many things about the way the other schools are run and I am glad I go to Ashley High. A happy student, Robert Gorham Dear Editor Iwould hke to take this opportunity to con gratulate the cheerleaders As I watch them take the floor to cheer at a basketball game I am filled with admiration for them Spending their leisure time to perfect their cheers they have become a squad of neatness and precision Watch any other team we play and I guarantee you will not find any other cheerleaders with quite so much pep and enthusiasm as these six girls from Ashley High These girls represent our school and they give the valley an idea of the school spirit we have here at Ashley Underclassmen we hope wont let the cheerleaders down for al though they have been doing a wonderful Job they cannot continue alone They need the backing of the entire student body Remember when the cheerleaders lead a cheer they are representatives of the entire student body and they must have our support Sincerely Roberta Whitmire EDITOR S NOTE lt was good to get your mes sages and as a post script may I say I too have really enjoyed being a student at Ashley High for the past four years when I leave in June I ll miss my friends teachers the fun studying and even classes very much It certainly will be wonderful when at some distant time in the future Ill recall all the happy memories of my school days- especially the Oral English and Chemistry experi- ments ' Im sure that every senior feels this way as Graduation nears and Ihope that every student appreciates the wonderful school he has Respectfully Elaine Kloss 5:5 . 15 , ':me.'n. , 'll I llmggfr , 53,'gg..ol:g1 4lll I5 f' 1:53355 Z' 'JV ii 'ff' 3lE.5!ss!.'.l!!1v- LETTER to th EDITOR SP0l3l'l' FOR THE FUN UF IT Q- A 919 fs- -9 M1'i2lQ9! From the very first game with Natiocoke Hi, which we won in an overtime period, our success was due to teamwork. Cooperating with their instructors were five members of the Senior Class. The 'fiery' figure in the person of Captain Len Penkrot displayed a versatility of shots, great driving plays and consistent re- bounding. Bill Biggs was excellent as a shot maker and ball handler. He frequently made fast charg- ing lay-up shots with a deceptive wiggle as he squeezed through opposing guards. Bernie Mastroff fre- quently relieved at center with much composure. Stan Koznetski and Dan Yancheck both saw action in most games and were noted for their fine shooting. Steve Sokolowski, Bernie Radecki and Bobby Hess. three Sophomores, were in the starting line up. Big Steve was a tower of strength on the defense and his one hand flips from all over the court were beautiful to behold. Bernie was a good defensive player and in several crucial games came through with baskets from all angles. Bobby, an outstanding play maker, a superb faker, was all over the floor. Two Juniors Al Jablonski and Joe Alesczyk continued their time playing by seeing action in most games. X 1-0 u QAXMM X , I 4 ns, R L, 4 - sq . ' -ff , A ' ' T it, A.
