CLASS HISTORY The year of 1959 found 42 students in the freshman class at Ashley High School. The following people were elected as officers: President--Ron Deetz; V. Pres.--Larry Brand; Sec.--Carol Menzel; Treas.--Sandra Leas; Hist.-- Debbie Allen; Rep.--Judy Reinoehl, Linda Hamman; Sponsor--Mr, Harold Arney. Although things were very different for some of us; we managed to earn the beginnings of our senior trip fund by having two sock-hops. Class colors of light blue and black were chosen and our sweaters were ordered in the same colors. At our first meeting of the sophomore year, on September 15, 1960, we decided upon the following officers: Pres.--John Reinoehl; V. Pres.--Ronald Richter; Sec.--Judy Reinoehl; Treas.--Deanna Taylor; Hists.--Julia Albright, Steven Curry; Rep.--Deborah Allen, Charles Schiffli; Sponsor--Mr. Rex Hile. The year proved very active for all of us because of the many money-making projects we undertook. There were two bake sales, an iron and scrap drive, and a stationery and napkin sale. We had two parties that year; one being held at Pokagon and the other at the Town Hall. Almost all of the 40 students that were then in the sophomore class, purchased class rings with the Lucky Star pattern. The junior year consisted of many activities; a few being: Christmas card and candy sales, bake sale, ice cream and popcorn sales at the basketball games, a paper drive, and a magazine sale. The year started out with 42 students although we later lost Sharon Knott, but gained Drema Whitham to keep the number at 42. On April 14 we presented our Junior Class Play, The Midnight Son, Our officers were: Pres.--John Reinoehl; V. Pres.--Art Gael; Sec.--Deanna Taylor; Treas.--Judy Reinoehl; Hist.--Julia Albright; Rep.-- Gary Wehr, Carol Menzel; Repr.--Debbie Allen, Mike Shuman; Sponsor-- Mrs. Dollie Arey. Now we are in our senior year of high school; 40 of us are heading for the coming graduation this spring. Two new students were added at the beginning of the year, but we also lost two. John Reinoehl again became our Pres.; V. Pres.--Ronald Richter; Sec.--Judy Reinoehl; Treas.--Deanna Taylor; Hist.-- Debbie Allen; Rep.--Art Gael, Doneta Brenneman; Repr. Gary Wehr, Jennie King; Sponsor--Mr. Fred Frederick. This is the big and final year for us; by big I mean all the things we have looked forward to through the other three years are now happening., These include such activities as: senior class pictures, putting out an annual and the coming senior trip and graduation exercises in May. To all underclassmen, the senior class of 1963 wishes to express its sincerest hopes that high school holds all the fond and useful memories it has held for us.
