Class History In the fall of 1950 the nucleus of the class of 1954 met for the first time in the northeast corner of the assembly. There were thirty-two members in all. We elected Sylvia Little, President; Jerry Parnell, Vice-President; David King, Secretary; Lorraine Bigger- staff, Reporter; Agnes Gfeller and Jim Warner, Historians, We chose Leland Fee for our class sponsor. During this year Sylvia Little moved away and Jerry Parnell became President. We then elected Nancy Wick- erham Vice-President. In November we sponsored a Skating party at Silvermoon. We had another party in April. We had a potluck Supper and then went to Angola to the show. We began our Sophomore year with twenty-eight. We held a class meeting electing Jack Brooks, President; Susie Zonker, Vice-President; Phyllis Brenneman, Treasurer; David King, Secretary; David Arney, Reporter; Kathleen Dilley and Lorraine Biggerstaff, Historians; and choosing Paul Everett as our sponsor. In September we ordered our class rings and received them in November. That year we had two parties. The first was held in October at the Town Hall; we played games and then went to Angola to the show. In March we had a wiener roast and then went to the show at Angola. Our Junior year opened with twenty-five on the roll. Our class officers were Jack Brooks, President; Iivid Arney, Vice-President; Lorraine Biggerstaff, Secretary; Phyllis -enneman, Treasurer; Kathleen Dilley, Reporter; Dannie Hamman and Susie Zonker Historians; and Dollie Arney, our. sponsor. We had a paper drive in Sep.iember and sold maga- Zine subscriptions in November. We sold Christmas cards in November and Dollie Arney had a Christmas Party at her home for us. in December. In January we sold magazine Subscriptions for a different company. We had gigantic bake sales during the year. We presented our play, GHOST WANTED, on April 23. The Junior-Senior Class trip was on May 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. We went to Washington D. C. With twenty-five in our class we elected officers as follows: Lorraine Biggerstaff, President; Kathleen Dilly, Vice-President; Jack Brooks, Secretary; Phyllis Brenneman, Treasurer; Nancy Wickerham, Re- porter; Rosemary Miller and David Arney, Historians; and Fred Frederick, Sponsor. In October we all went to Robert's in Fort Wayne for our Senior Pictures. By November we were ready for our play REST ASSURED. We had a Christmas party at Carole Leas's home. The events we are still looking forward to are: Junior-Senior Valentine Party, Trip, Class Night, Baccalaureate and Commencement. This just about rounds up everything the Class of '54 has done in the four years at Ashley High. --David Arney Rosemary Miller

20 This is Your Life 1964 DAVID ARNEY is starting his internship in Greenland where there is a certain young nurse. ANN AYERS after waiting for two years has settled down and is raising her own family. LORRANINE BIGGERSTAFF while working in the baby ward at the Lutheran Hospital found a doctor and is raising her own family. PHYLLIS BRENNEMAN after trying for ten years finally won first place in the 500 Mile Indianapolis Race. She is the first woman to win here. JACK BROOKS after ten. years has quite a String of teeth to add to his collection in his dentist office. KATHLEEN DILLEY sent a letter from Africa the other day. It Seems Kathleen and her husband are doing a good job of converting all the natives. AGNES GFELLERS has opened a day nursery in Hamilton and has a fine family of her own. DANNIE HAMMAN is working on splitting the split atom. DON HAMMAN is a personal pilot for Arthur Godfrey. DAVID KING after being named American Poet Laureate is the head of the Library of Congress. CAROLE LEAS while teaching found her one and only and is happily married. JANICE McGREW is now in Indianapolis having an Art Exhibition, where she is the Director of the Institute. ROSEMARY MILLER has her own Beauty Shoppee and is married and is living in Waterloo. JERRY NEWCOMER is starting the first Card College in America. JERRY PARNELL has started his doctoring in a local community. EVERETT REINOEHL has come back to be the Minister at Cedar Lake Church. He is living in that new house. NORMAN ROSE has taken Bob Hope' Ss place and is player manager of Cleveland Indians. PHYLLIS SANDERS is married and is keeping house for you-know-who. FLOYD SCHWARTZENGRABER iS manager of No-Sag in Kendallville. BERDENIA SHIPE after working for three years, decided to start her own family. EVELYN STACKHOUSE is married to the Smithfield Trustee and is trying to get a new living suite for the Home Ec. Department. NANCY WICKERHAM is busy keeping the coffepot hot for Jerry while he is out on cases. JIM WARNER is busy raising little dears up in Canada: DUANE WILER is happily married and is head buyer for W D. SUSIE ZONKER after working in the Lincoln Life, married her man and is still working there. --Carole Leas Phyllis Brenneman
