Also it is the only one in this state that has such a trip. Each summer our advisor and some of the boys of the chapter go up into Canada for about ten days. They sleep in tents and fish and hike in the daytime. They also do some work around the camp grounds and visit various points of interest within driving distance of the camp. These boys earn their trips to Canada by making so much profit for the chapter. The make this profit by selling various articles such as: jello, garden seeds, plastic freezer bags, scrap and also by raising hogs for the chapter. We are rather proud of our club for the reason that we learn to work co-operatively and that we have something different and outstanding in the FFA line. FIRST ROW: D. Hamman, J. Warner, D. Perhaps the most active organization in the school is the band. Since 1948, ‘the band has grown from eight members to the present day sixty-five. In the six years we have been in existence, we have bought or made uniforms, purchased nineteen school horns, thirty music stands, a metronome, and two wardrobe cabinets The horns can be rented for $3.00 per semester. We also have built up a large library of muSic. One of our annual projects has been to march at the Auburn fair. We have done this every year for five years. We also marched at the Ft. Wayne Armistice Day Parade. During the summer, we gave Saturday night concerts. We are hired by the Ashley Merchants to do this. The outstanding members ot the band go to contests every year, and in the spring the solos and ensembles are given in the form of a Spring Concert. ; 55 “ ‘ ee eee ————— = ——s a - ees ‘ $ by iv i ve Woodwind Section FIRST ROW: Harriett Allen, Bob Taylor, Lina Mae Hamman, Janet Brand, Donna Schumaker, Shirley Stahl, Emily Royal, Bruce Scranage. Will We Ever Forget The morning of May 6, when sixty kids, four chaperons, and two bus drivers started out for Washington, D.C. In the first picture at the top is one of our bus drivers, Paul Price. Next to him is Cecil Reynolds and another picture of Paul. On the end is Mr. Arney and the two bus drivers relaxing in Washington. Of course you recognize Fred and Evangeline Frederick in one of their loving poses. Under it is Mr. Frederick walking in Washington. Across from this you see Dollie standing on a hill with Harold and Nancy look- ing on. Below this is the driveway of the motel where we stayed in Pennsylvania. It rained most of the first day. At the bottom is Fred in front of the place where we ate in Penn. the middle at the bottom are Nancy, Lorraine, Phyllis B. and Rosemary in front of the motel. The next picture is of the motel in Breezewood Penn. That evening we went to Everett to the show. In All these pictures are taken in front of the National Art Gallery where we ate lunch. In the top pictures are the following: Agnes, Rosemary, Phyllis, B., Berdenia, Lorraine and Susie. Right next to the girls are Carol R.) Theresa, Jim, Jack, Myron, Kenny and Don K. Below the boys is a water fountain which we could have used as a shower. Across from the fountain are Jack, Kenny, Myron, Donnie, Jim, and Everitt. Down at the bottom are Phyllis B., Nancy, Kathleen, and Lorraine. Next to them are some worn out boys - Dannie, Jack, Donnie, Harold, John H., Norman, Jim, and Everritt. The top pictures are views of the Capitol Building. On the steps of the Capitol are Maryellyn, Joyce, Jean, Glora, Jo, Dollie and Harold. At the bottom of the steps are Carol R. and Jim with some of our bunch in the background. At the bottom are pictures of the Lincoln Memorial. Lorraine, Phyllis B., Rosemary and Evelyn on the Capitol steps, and a front view of the Capitol with our kids in front. The top picture is a place where we stopped in the hills. Next to it is where we couldn't get in the White House. Under these pictures are the side of the White House and Washington Monument. At | the bottom is another view of the side of | the White House and a front lawn view of | it also. These are the views from the Washington Monument. First is the Jefferson Memorial and next to it is the Capitol. Under this is the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Monument with the modern Abe's at the feet of Abe Lincoln.
