Katrina: Barbara: Rita: Katrina: Barbara: Rita: Katrina: Barbara: Rita: Katrina: Barbara: Rita: Katrina: Barbara: Rita: Katrina: Barbara: Bill Wilson, our class Casanova, is now on Station A-S-H-L-E-Y-F-M as a national joker. He became a Bob Hope; his co-star is Joan Ellert, alias Chicken, who imitates that famous comic character, Donald Duck. Dean Paulen, veteran windsock of the Ashley Class, is still up in the air. He 's Admiral Paulen now, commander of the aircraft carrier U.S.S, Windy Pass. Did you know that Joyce Lepley is an old maid and still Dodging around ? Do you recall our high school play-boy Larry Stomm. Well, he is fixed fine, now. He turned out to be a real for sure scientist. Paul Conrad used to say he was going to be another Frank Sinatra. Welt, he is singing lullabies to his children. Did Phyllis Chrisman marry Marion Baker ? Yes, and they now own the Ashley Baking Co. which bakes all the supplies for Rexall Drug Store where Marcella Hammon is working as a jerk, a soda that is. Freddie sure is in dead business, for he is now the friendly undertaker, Did you say dead business? That's Johnny Wilhelm’s work; he keeps the farmers buying new stock for he is now the veterinarian for all farmers out of Ashley. Dick Harme'’s high school athletics have sure paid off: he is now coach of the Zoliner Pistons. I suppose you knew that Helen Stout finally married that soldier boy and they are now raising their own army. That ‘‘little’’ Peggy Kissinger gave her first art exhibit in Chicago this year, I wonder if she married that short boy friend of hers? Oh, she probably left him to marry some interesting art fellow in Chicago. Here comes Bob, I°ll have to leave now. I'll have to hurry home to get Paul’s supper. It was fun remembering old classmates, but I’ll have to go home now, because Jack is going to take me out for supper. b2

PROPHECY It is the year of 1959. Fromthe corridor of the Ashley Memorial Hospital two nurses, Barbara Sanders and Katrina Prosser, step into the dimly lit waiting room where Rita Ellert is sitting patiently waiting for her husband, Dr. Robert Mee. The three girls sit down and start talking. They soon wander onto the subject of their old classmates. Barbara: Rita: Katrina: Barbara; Rita: Katrina: Barbara: Rita; Katrina: Barbara: Rita; Katrina: Barbara: Rita: I wonder what happened to Frank Kessler? Why, he is now head of the U.S.S, Steel Corporation. And do you remember Troas Orwig? After all these years, she has finally decided to marry him. Do you remember Ruth Anne Hoffelder and Joan Miller? They are now running a boarding house jus t for bachelors. Speaking of running boarding houses, Ned Sanders and Berdena Wiler probably think they are running a boarding house too. You should see all the little blonde boarders. ‘Do you remember my girl-friend, Joan Days, whose long ambition was to travel? She has finally fulfilled her wish. She is now steward- ess for the Hurd’s Airline Inc. She sure is lucky, but do you remember Violet Gipple? Ske is work- ing as a stand-in for Judy Garland. That cute Clarice Whysonp’s looks have surely paid off. She is now a famous model for the Paris Beauty Salon of Ashley. The Salon is under the ownership of the exquisite blonde Crystal Shipe. Did you know Mona June Strite and Beverly Deetz are now co-owners of the Ashley S D Bait Factory? I think Dean Stoy as outdone us all; he is now an English teacher at North Side in Fort Wayne. Speaking of teachers, Helen Newcomer is now head of the Home Economics Department of Ashley High School. Phyllis Snyder is head of the Latin Department. I still remember Philip Ellert and his girlfriend, Margaret Redmon. I wonder what ever happened to them ? Philip is still at home waiting for Margaret, who is now Superintendent of Nurses at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. 11
