From the first class day of instruction, Wednesday, September 17, 1879, with some 60 students in attend- ance - from the first gradu' ating class of 1881 with four men donning mortar boards as seniors - Ashland Col- lege has graduated thou- sands of students and has expanded its faculty from the original six to around 100 professors today. In 1978, Ashland College is worthy of praise. Had it not been for dedicated women and men - people who believed in the advan- tages of higher education, Ashland College might have been a dream unrealized. But Ezra C. When Ezra C.
