A TRIBUTE The stiff task of finishing the unfinished man belongs to the Liberal Arts college. This finishing process is a lifetime job-a lifetime of learning. In the liberal arts tradition, Ashland Collegeis principles are no better reflected than in the per- sonage of GEORGE lVl. GUILEY As an avid reader, he constantly acquaints himself with success and failure-man's progress. He ex- plores vocahulary and excels as a linguist. His tastes rival a gourmet's. His efforts to serve his fellowman touch country, community, and college. During World War ll, eight Navy officers were assigned to SONAR research and development. He was one of four stationed in the Pacific, and is still active in the Naval Reserve. The city of Ashland knows him as a Rotarian, a Mason, and a devout layman. The college sees him daily as Dean of Students and Associate Professor of Physics. Professional societies such as the American College Personnel Association and the Ameri- can Association of Physio Teachers pen his name on their rosters. To praise him is trite, to respect him is understatement. His sense of duty and fair play are badges of esteem. We thrill at having him as one of Ashland's own. We applaud him as a man.
