£)edicu tion “The old order changeth yielding place to new, and God fulfills himself in many ways.” .... Tennyson. The student body of Ashland High School realize that we are living in a new day as far as educational advantages in Benton County are concerned. Futhermore, we realize that our parents and friends of the school have made this day possible. Without the united efforts of our citizens, our new school never would have materialized. Realizing that our new building is a testimonial of your faith in us as the youth of today, and a symbol of the hope that you hold for and enlightened citizenry of tomorrow, we, the annual staff, dedicate this book to our new high school building, and in so doing likewise dedicate it to each of you. 2

MR. ROY HARRELL School Superientendent Dear Students, For the first time we are attempting to interpret our school to our com- munity through the medium of the school annual. The people of our district have a big stake in our school. They have been magnificient in every move we have made for progress. That we may not break faith with them, we, from the administration to the children in the first grade, must continually re- dedicate ourselves to the real purpose of all our effort, that of providing dynamic training in good citizenship. You have an excellent annual, one you will cherish through the years. Let us not forget, however, that students portray to their parents and to the public, most often indirectly, the real place the school holds in their lives. While we can not pay for the outlay of our system in a material sense, we can expect continued support only as we give back to the community the type of citizens that our society recognizes as acceptable and useful. This is no easy task but the challenge is worth all the effort. We are happy that is our job to do. Together we shall not fail. Sincerely, Roy Harrell 4
