The student council, created to open channels of communication between students and administration, proved to be a very active and concerned organization throughout the school year. Under the leadership of sponsor Doug Inderlied and president John Messer the Stuco sponsored various activities, including Homecoming celebrations Sweetheart coronation, and Sadie Hawkins Day festivities. The oiganiztion also spent much time and effort on the construction of a student lounge. SITTING LEFT TO RIGHT, Eddy Ann Wibright, Janet Floyd, Terry Couch-Vice president, Rita Wright-president, Quilma Bliss-treasurer, Jana Rankin, Norma Cunningham. The Ashland Chapter of the National Honor Society was organized just this year. Members were chosen by the faculty on the grounds of scholarship, leadership, and community service. For their community service project the NHS chose to pay weekly visits to the Ashland Nursing Home, where they brought cheer to many of the elderly residents.

The organization was established to promote unity and pride among A.H.S. athletes. This year A Club members participated in many fund raising activities and charitable drives. Among the activities were the annual chile supper and the cerebral palsy drive. Mrs. Beverly York, sponsor; Janet Floyd, pres.; Quilma Bliss, vice pres.; Dana Goodnight, sec.; Terena Henderson, treas.; Janet Amspiger, stuco. rep.; Sally Shattuck, Inter-Club Council Rep. The Y-Teen theme chosen for the year was, We've Got A Lot to Give. Our main activities for the year included hosting the U.N. Weekend party, Mother Daughter Tea, Cerebral Palsy Drive and various money-making projects. One of our Ashland Y-Teen girls, Sally Shattuck, was highly honored with the office of ICC Representive.
