Text from Pages 1 - 72 of the 1970 volume:

Our lives are built, on memories—some of.these we soon forget--and others linger with us forever. We the Annual Staff have endeavored to capture, in picture form memories that otherwise might become dimmed by time.. It is only fitting and proper that this page reflect the trend of the year 1970, . v • when bussing students to school reached its peak, not Only-in”rural areas but cities as well. 7L4.1r‘ ) Administration BOARD OF EDUCATION: Phyllis Shattuck, Vice President, Roy Hink, Henry Gardiner, President, F. The Journalism class, or better known as the Clipperette Staff, under the direction of Mr. Leland Hill have done a wonderful job this year in publicizing the various activities of the school year. Not only has Ashland High School been given publicity in the local paper; but also the Hutchinson News and Dodge City Globe. Mr. Hill and his Journalism class have been a real asset to the school this past year and congratulations to all for a job well done. COVERDALE BODY SHOP DON SPOTTS LBR. CO. While three girls, Kris Baker, Sally Shattuck, and Linda Mullendore, participated in State Contest. Although the Seniors will be missed, we will have many new additions next year and will look forward to new success. Pop Concert Plays to Packed House From Bach to Beatles and Beyond played to a hot, happy and packed house at Ashland Auditorium. It was a most unique and novel production under director Craig Harms. The Robot Time Machine created by Doug Inderlied and his physic class was a focal point for machine age announcing and most professionally done. Dancers, twirlers, lighting and parade all went into making the Pop Concert most entertaining and lively. Music for Long Hair, Short Hair, or No Hair was outstanding as usual under the proficient direction of Mr. Harms. Musical “Check Your Worries’’ ASHLAND OIL COMPANY GAS. At all contests the Marching Bluejays Band was presented superior ratings and was regarded as one of the states leading marching bands. VETERANS DAY PROGRAM A. H. S. DRUM MAJORETTE JAN GANSON A.H.S. Among many honors that the band received during the year was that of being selected by the First Chair of America organization to hold a place in Who's Who in Americas Bands and Orchestras. SOUND MEETS BIGGER AND BETTER OPPORTUNITIES After only two years in existance the Ashland Senior High School Stage Band furthered its training and promotion of Jazz and Rock Music by rehearsing every week to present its first full length recital, and its first performance outside the city during its concert at Dodge City Community Junior College.
