Administration A MESSAGE FROM MR. KUGLER Congratulations Seniors upon completing twelve years of formal education. You have earned the plaudits of your teachers, relatives and friends. But, your graduation signals a beginning not an end to your obligation to continue your education either formally or informally. If you expect to meet and solve the problems of the future, you will have to become active, not passive--innovative, not imitative. You will have to utilize the full potential of yourselves. You will live in a society characterized by rapid change and unprecedented complexity which will not tolerate undeveloped or underdeveloped human talent. A society which will demand a greater acquisition of knowledge and more exacting endeavor than demanded of any prior generation if you would have financial success, the acclaim of your peers, and the realization of personal success; but there is more to human aspirations. Never forget that the true worth of an individual is found in his values, in his beliefs, in his preferences, in his aesthetic judgments, in his standards, in his measure of success, and in his commitments. In the future as in the past, what becomes of you as an individual will depend less on what you achieve, as on your individual standards--individual worth, individual dignity, individual initiative, individual freedom of choice, individual equality of opportunity, and respect for the rights of others. THOMAS KUGLER, Superintendent Board of Education, Unified School District 220; L. TO R. , Mrs. Phyllis Shattuck, Mr. Olis Goodnight, Jr. , Mr. Henry Gardiner, Dr. M. C. Rankin, Mr. Warren Harrington, and Mr. Art Ganson. 2
