REX GRIFFIN, Superintendent Behind every successful school is a dedicated superintendent and a Board of Education composed of interested community citizens. We have such people in Ashland. Our school board, consisting of six members, and our superintendent, Mr. Griffin, work together to formulate school policies, establish the budget and over-see and evergrowing school system. They do not back away from potential crises and are ever-ready to help a student, parent, or teacher. 2

FOREWORD This is Ashland High School 1967, a progressive educational institution preparing students for life, responsibilities and the problems of the world. This school year has echoed with many activities: the excitement of athletic events, the grueling task of meeting deadlines, the turbulence of competition and, most important, the academic challenges. All these facts have combined to make the year enjoyable, meaningful, and memorable. In the 1967 Blue jay Annual, the staff has made an attempt to capture the exhilarating spirits of AHS students and, by doing so, preserve the glorious memories of 1967.

MR. BERT HITCHCOCK High School Principal MR. ARTHUR HOCH Grade School Principal It goes unsaid that a school system could not be operated without the capable leadership of the principals and their staff. Ashland is no exception. Under the direction of Mr. Hitchcock and Mr. Hoch, assisted by Mrs. Rankin and Mrs. Hulstine, the Ashland schools function like well-precisioned machines. We are proud to have men and women of such quality leading our school. COVERDALE BODY SHOP JOHN COVER DALE MRS. BETTY RANKIN MRS. MAXINE HULSTINE
