C is for Cox, our man of steel Any place you put him, he has appeal, F is for Fellers, in sports he’s a diller But when he's with the girls, O what a killer. G is for Gilbert, a boy we all know Cattle is his project, that'll put him in the dough. G is for Glover, she's such a Brain Loads of personality, but can she raise cane. H is for a boy we all call Harmon He couldn't have added more, if he played in Carmen. H is for Harvey; no, not the Rabbit He's got the talent to play just Abbot. H is for Hensley, boy can she laugh I know you'll miss her, her senses just half. H is for the boy by the name of Hurd Small and clever, flighty as a bird. J is for Jenkins, do you doubt this? Full of Spirit, with remarks you can't miss. J is for Johnson, He's talented too Loads of fun, seldom misses a cue. I is for Isenbart, she’s certainly no bore Quiet, smart, and ability galore. L is for Love lady, a girl of your dream Happy little girl, that's just off her beam. M is for Markland, she's always on the go Full of know how, with an eye on her beau. M is for Marshall, popular is she A swell girl to know, and as busy as a bee. M is for McKinley, the cutie of the class She's eager to help, a cooperative lass. M is for McCormac, there’s two of them you know They're fun to be around, anywhere you go. M is for a boy we call McPhail There's a story he's ornery, and that’s no tale. M is for an ambitious guy named Moore His ford is where you find him, and THAT’S really a chore. N is for Nelson, with a shining face She's still a girl with ruffles and lace. R is for Randall, he’s got lots on the ball Clever and intelligent, and gee, is he tall! R is for Randall, there's more than one Smart and pretty, and work, she gets it done. R is for Redfield, he'll be famous someday For what, don’t ask us, we don't know right away. R is for Ritter, He’s fast on his feet Tell us how often you've never been beat. S is for a newcomer, her name is Shaw Loads of ability, the kindest girl you ever saw. S is for Sneed, she'll help a friend in need But boy, O boy, in Shorthand what speed! T is for Theander, first name we won't tell S it starts with, does that ring a bell? T is for Trease, a football star he was, Now he doesn’t do anything, but give the girls a buzz. V is for Vallentine, not the kind you give, An intellectual little girl, who knows how to live. V is for Vannaman, the boys she makes cry, For some odd reason, one of their names is Guy. W is for a rootin’, tootin', shootin' girl named Wibright And if Max and she aren’t together there's bound to be a fight. For you this Poem's been written No more-------------So now I'm Quittin'. A. Lovelady Softly Now the Light of Day Rev. Haskell D. Beck The Seniors took their places together before the public for the last times as they went through their Baccalaureate and commencement services. This was the end of being one body of students; they became individual members in a big world. This was our farewell. This was not the only farewell however, for on the morning of May 22 the Seniors returned to the halls of Ashland High. They came to say good-bye to their friends there, and to say thanks and Best Wishes to Alma Mater. There was much laughter and few tears, but deep in the heart of each 1953 Senior was a sentimental feeling that would return in future reminising. Happiness, success, lightheartedness, youth, with a little sadness and failure.....and so we close our large book of memories. Don Randall D.A.R. American History Award J. V.
