Text from Pages 1 - 44 of the 1950 volume:

e In the 1950 BLUEJAY we, the Yearbook Staff, have under-takentoshow the many and various phases of school life which have encouraged students. It has been our aim to make a faithful reflection of our activities so that through the years the hopes and ambitions of our youth may be kept burning. May we look back with pleasure to these wonderful days. Editor........................MARGARET GRAFF Assistant Editor . . . HARR1ETTE MURRY Business Manager........................JOAN REDF1ELD Assistant Business Manager LOUISE STEGMAN Junior Representative .... JOYCE DAILY Sophomore Representative. . . IRENE YORK Freshman Representative CAROL VALLENT1NE Sponsor.....................DOROTHY PROPP 2 Dear Alma Mater: Any one in our situation can appreciate the feeling of sadness at this parting. Here we have dwelt for four years and have passed from adolescents to young men and ladies. Here we have made lasting friendships and have captured unforgettable memories. Here we have acquired new interests and have glimpsed new and broader horizons. We now leave, not knowing when or whether we may return, to take our place in the new and complex world with the knowledge endowed us. It is with deep reverence and much humility that we bid you an affectionate farewell. -The Senior Class of 1950- y4thn in id Ira tion J. E. HUMPHREYS Superintendent Mr. Humphreys, who came to Ashland in 1929, is completing his 21st year as Superintendent of schools. He received his A.B. degree from Sterling College and his M.-A. degree from the University of Kansas. While at Ashland High, Mr. Humphreys has had a two-fold task of teaching and administrating. He has done much to improve the scholastic standing of the school and has made Ashland High one of the finest schools in the state. Through his untiring efforts in behalf of the students they have come to know him as a friend. WILLIAM J.
