For the hoys who do not plan to go to college a vocational course is offered. Four trades are taught to high school hoys: machine shop, auto mechanics, electricity, and sheet metal. For girls interested in homemaking the school offers home economics. In the course are sewing, cooking, child care, family relations. interior decorating, first aid, and social etiquette. Any girl S taking home economics is eligible to hecome a mcmhcr of the Future Homemakers of America, one of the cluhs at AHS. By taking advantage of these courses students are equipped to go into vocations and homemaking immediately after high school, Vocational training prepares boys for splendid positions. and home economics prepares girls to take care of thc homes and families they will prohahly have in the future. Boys are taught the fundamentals of military science and the parts and uses of rifles and other weapons, Each ycar Ashland has one of the finest rifle teams of the nation.
