Pre-game enthusiasm is aroused at cleverly planned pep rallies. EIXITHUSIASM The competitive element is ever present in our lives, and we must be ready and alive to the challenges which compe- tition affords. The vigorous individual or organization is the one who will benefit from the vital training engendered by this enthusiastic spirit. We feel that at Ashland High School one has the opportunity to learn the meaning ot this neces- sary by-product of education. The sixteen cast members of Papa was a Preacher take a bow. JUNIOR CLASS PLAY The junior class play, Papa Was a Preacher, initiated this year's iuniors into the art of the theater. Presented November 20, the three-oct comedy dealt with the family of a West Texas couple who were being remarried in order to celebrate their 25th anniversary. The play's humor was derived from the contrast between the tolerant preacher, his wife, his very typical boisterous teen-agers, and the community's ideas as to how a preacher's children should conduct themselves. SENIOR CLASS PLAY This year the Seniors of Ashland High School presented C. B. Gilford's Bull in a China Shop. This comic-mystery cen- ters around the lives of several old maids who murder each other in an attempt to gain the attentions of their neighbor, Detective Dennis O'Finn. ln the end O'Finn transfers to Arson Squad and the ladies start to burn down their boarding house.
