Ashland High School had the distinction ot being the first high school in the country to produce The King 015 Jimi Captain Orton Louis Leonowens Anna Leonowens Interpreter Kralahome King Phra Alack Tuptim Lady Thiang Princess Ying Yao wlak Prince Chululongkorn Lun Tha Sir Edward Ramsey Simon Legree Uncle Thomas Little Eva Angel George E iza Buddha Topsy Principal Dancer Cast Jack Sharrock Rick Carr Carol Boyer Bud Koontz Carl Leedy Jon Nicodemus Pat Romanchuk Betty Laird Nancy Sprinkle Sheryl Johnson Bill Swartz Lindley Hall Dick Reinke Jim Burns Jerry Ransom Diana Hancock Lane Chandler Kathy Kuhn Jett Kopp Sandy Finberg Kay Fulton and I by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Members of Thes- pians, a Cappella Choir, and Senior Orchestra com- bined their talents lor the musical which was presented February 7th, 8th, and 9th in McDowell Auditorium to capacity audiences. Mrs. Cecelia Kopp, choreographer, created the Siamese version ol Uncle Tom's Cabin, as well as the performances by the king's dancers. Dr. Louis Pete directed the singers and the orchestra, while Mr. William Mast was in charge of the committees and the stage direction of the play. The King and l is the true story of a young English widow, Anna Leonowens, who is brought to Siam to teach the king's wives and children. She educates not only them but also the king, who is a stubborn, tyran- nical, but charming individual. ie wi nv 'X 'P Prince Chululongkorn inherits his father's kingdom. r
