However we do also commend him for his efforts on the stage that bears his name. Without his time and patience many ot the events which have been presented there would not have been possible, lt is with great admiration for him and with appreciation for his services to Ashland High School that we hereby dedicate this Guide to Mr. James A. What will my vocation be? lt is the purpose of the College Club, advised by Miss Grace Franz, to help its members answer these and other questions concerning their future education. To help them answer these questions, catalogues and pamphlets are available to the stu- dents. Representatives from various colleges and universities speak at the club meetings. At the beginning of the school year, each club member was asked to register his preferences as to the colleges about which he would like most to hear. During the year, representatives from many of the most popular choices spoke at the club meetings. Speakers from Ashland College, Wittenberg, Kent State, Ohio University, Ohio Wesleyan, Otterbein, and Dennison were heard. At one meeting a representative of Case Institute of Technology discussed that school with the boys while a speaker from Flora Stone Mather College met with the girls. Because of its success last year, an orientation program was again held this year with representatives from the business, industrial, and professional world taking part. The students met in groups and received information and counsel concerning the fields in which they were interested. During the second semester, the annual parent night was held. The year closed with a Senior Farewell given by the Junior members of the club. 95 if 25' N vw- College Club Row l-L. Harris, P. Markel, B. Lease, J. Kirkpatrick, J. Topper, D. Gongwer, J. Lersch. ARROW After opening the season with an amazing victory over Shelby l9-l 3 in the closing seconds of the game, the Arrow gridders went into a nosedive, recovering only to top neighboring Madison in the Homecoming game. Through- out the remainder of the season, the Arrows were unable to overcome the strong offenses of Fostoria, Garfield Heights, New Philadel- phia, Wooster, Marion, and Canton Lehman. Although they performed well in the last half against Marion and lost to Galion by one point, the Arrows failed to come up to pre- season expectations. Outstanding for the Arrows in the line were Bob Bertsch and Dick Peterson, especially on defense. ln the backfield, Tony Hitchcock and Gary Kehl were the bright spots. Sophomore haltback, Gary Stouffer, showed tremendous improvement over the season and is a bright hope for the l957 team. J.V. Coach Marley Tackles-D. Dauch, R. Hazen. Guards-B. Donley, D. They might well be compared to the committees who operate backstage in a play. However, as the commit- tees are often forgotten, so are these people who help keep Ashland High School in oper- ation. They take us to and from school they keep the school clean they warm the build- ing they teed us and they also do those extra little tasks that make our school what it is Their roles are certainly as important as ours and tor that reason they deserve special rec ognrtion f-an psv T T T I Mr Lowe Head Custodian Mr Miller Engineer Cafeteria Staff Mrs Kreider Mrs Sevits Mrs Aten Mrs Shriner Mrs Berry Mrs Wenrrck Mrs Pifer Mrs Eppler Custadions Ms Martin Mrs Johnson Mrs Wierbiki Mr Somerlade BUS Dftvefs Mr Dunham My Sloboch My Mmm, My Sqegefg M,- Mr Williams Wells Mr Harp I .
