We, the '49ers, through our four years of high school have been both impressed and inspired by the sparkling personality and capability of one Who has been a friend as Well as a leader. His spirit of teamwork, evident both on the play- ing field and in the class room, his unselfish par- ticipation in curricular and extra-curricular activi- ties, his friendliness in the halls-these are but a few of the qualities which make us proud to dedicate this yearbook to .Paul L. Sherck and wish him still brighter prospects for the future.

F ore word To each of us who have spent many years seek- ing our gold, this book is an accumulation of ideas, ambitions, and accomplishments. lust as the 49'ers sought their gold a hundred years ago, Ashland High's 49'ers have also been searching for that intangible something. Graduation, their gold, is but a single Word and yet a twelve-year task. For many, their accom- plishments end with their school career While others will engrave their accomplishments across the log of life. When years have passed, personal goals will have changed but as memories never change, We present a past view and a pre-view of the 49'ers search for their gold.
