Dear Sir:- By this r.ail, I am sending you a catalog of our school, which will give you information concerning our location, equipir ent , and the character of the work v iii ch we try to do. Our teachers are all graduates of the best colleges and have prepared themselves especially for work in secondary schools. Our ' ' joys go, very largely, to the best colleges and technical schools. Forthis reason, our standard of s cholarsi ' dp is high .and we expect and require good v ork of our pupils. We selected the location that we might have the best place for our boys to develop physically, mentally and morally. Mr. Anderson and I had charge of the University Scliool of Cleveland, Ohio, during the period 1390 to 1900, when we came to As?ie- viile. Previous to that time, I was a master, for a number of years, in St. Paul ' s School, Concord, H. H. I.!r. V . B. Trott who lives on East Capitol Street and The Rev. George H. McC-rew, Rector of the Episco- pal Church in Silver Springs, Md., knov us and our v ' ork intimately. Others in 7 asliington v;ho may tell you about our school and ourselves are; Hon. Theodore Burton, Senator from Oiiio and Hon. Robert Bulkley, Congressmaii from the Cleveland, Ohdo Distri. ct. Mr. Bulkley was a student of ours several years and knows our v;ork intimately, I give you these narries since the school year is so near at hand. We have but few vacancies in som.e of our forms so that an early consideration of the question, if you wish to enter a boy in the school, would be advisable. Ashcville School . 19 There are no extra or incidental expenses. There- EXPENSE fore parents may know in advance what the cost for a school-year will be. The tuition fee covers the living expenses except for clothing, and all school expenses except for books and stationery. This fee is $800, payable $400 at the opening of school in September, and $400 on February first. No repayment of any part of a semi-annual fee will be made in case of dismissal, withdrawal or absence. A semi-annual assessment is made for the Athletic Association for the use and maintenance of the various school teams — crews, baseball, football, basketball, tennis, golf and the track athletics. This assessment provides articles used by the school teams which are not personal or individual property, and purchases the trophies awarded. All expense for equipment and maintenance of play- grounds is borne by the school. This semi-annual fee is $7.50 for boys of the upper four forms and $5 for boys of the lower two forms. The fee for instruction in instrumental music is $70, payable $35 at the opening of school in September and $35 on February first. This fee includes the use of instruments for practice.
