Lamplighter Staff Mary E. Belz, Advertising, Anita Rix, Assistant-Editorg Jane Brown, Editor, Marsha Lambert, Secretary, Tim Shotwell, Photography, fnot picturedj John Walters, Business Manager. The Lamplighter staff takes up the challenge that our late President Kennedy placed in youth. They catch the torch of light and vision and renew their think- ing and acting so that they might spark the school with their renewal of spirit. The staff chose for the theme of Lamplighter Action, Key to Success. The action designated here is united teamwork of faculty and students in class, in sports, in social activities, in prayer and in every avenue of the Church's work. No man's an island , everyone must share and accept responsibility and regu- late his action in the aspect of living with charity, understanding and generosity. In this attitude, the pictures of the Lamplighter portray Asheville Catholic I-Iigh in action, living, serving, and achieving her goals. 10

Ring Symbolism A class ring is not only a beauti- ful band of gold, which compli- ments the wearer's hand, but it is also an emblem which sym- bolizes accomplishments of the student during this period of his life. Scholarship, Loyalty, Fair Play, Ambition, Idealism, and Comradeship are among these accomplishments. Rings, in gen- eral, have a glorious heritage. They are symbols of love, loyalty and affection--symbol of wealth and power. They are a mark of distinction. To the senior, the class ring is an everlasting momento of his high school career. This par- ticular ring was designed by the Class of 1964. It has on the crest a lamp of wisdom and the school seal, with the meaningful Words Fides-Caritas, Virtus-Sapientia. The blue faceted stone set in green gold makes the ring a creation of beauty. Ring Blessing
