Training in the business world is of- fered to juniors and seniors by participa- tion in the distributive education depart- ment while the students are Working toward their high school diplomas. The value of character traits such as honesty, consideration, and tact are stressed. Em- phasis is put on the personal side of sell- ing and the salesman's responsibility to customer, employer, and fellow worker. Training is provided through classroom instruction and part-time work ex- perience. Mrs. Hill is responsible for the classroom training. Offered to juniors and seniors is the diversified occupations program, which strives to prepare students for an occupa- tion xvhile attending school. This pro- gram provides an opportunity for the student to develop his individual apti- tudes and interests, to become better acquainted with the business world, and to explore a certain field in which he may be interested to continue train- ing. A variety of trades and occupa- tions are learned through classroom in- struction and work experience. into full-time careers. T 1-t.,....... Through the D. E. program, Faye deals with the public.

Necessities for the successful direction of business operation, such as our capabilities, characteristics, and understandings, are developed by the business education department. The objectives are directed toward non-vocation education as well as skill train- ing which enables us to meet the demands of the business world. The department strives to cover the entire field of office and secretarial training and to present it realistically and p1'actically. Courses in typing, bookkeeping, shorthand, general business, and business correspondence are olfered. Business education students work in the school oflice during the day assisting with the many details of the office as its various needs arise.
