These two elements - en- tertainment and education - are com- bined to make learning more exciting. A trip to Discovery Place, hiking Crowders Moun- tain, guest speakers at meetings, and sci- ence projects submitted to the North Caro- lina Student Academy of Science Competi- tion were activities planned for the year. This new club was formed to meet the in- creasing interest Ashbrook students have in science-related activities. S 3 FS S The newly formed AFS-international Club is the combination of two groups: the Q American Field Service and the International Club. These two clubs are made up of for- eign language students and exchange stu- dents. To raise money, members sold stuffed animals and raffle tickets and held an International Night at Gaston College. Continually growing, the AFS-international Club will contribute to Ashbrook even more in future years. Club President Leigh Robinson was responsible for all the exciting activities her club participated in during the year.
