The annual Miss Ashbrook beauty pageant was held on Saturday, December 7. Eleven contestants participated in evening gown, sportswear, and talent competitions along with judges' interviews. Because of tragic circumstances, Kelly Morgan was unable to participate in the final phase of the pageant. WBTV News personality and Those were the Years host Mike McKay performed as Master of Ceremonies for the pageant. The theme Saturday Night at the Movies was brought out through extravagant props and an authentic lighted marquee. 1. Cathy Froneberger performed a vocal selection from Summertime 2. Your starter for . . . and Tonight were interpreted into an acrobatic dance by Melanie Davis. 3. Lesa Seay brought Sventyski's Waltz to life. 4. Music filled the air as Jette Stroupe sang You Light Up My Life. 5. Deanna Barnes vocalized the theme from Mahogany, 6. A dramatic monologue from The Lark was presented by Pam Patrick. 7. The Star Wars theme is jaz- zed up by Carol Matthews. 8. Suzanne Ogrinc played a flute solo of the third and fourth movements of Sonata 5144 by Michael Blavet. 9. Lee Ann McCurry presented a version of the piano selection Deep Purple. 10. Prelude in C Sharp Minor by Rachmaninoff was played by Lillian Dickson. ll. Susan Reese did it like no one else in a song and dance routine to Nobody Does It Like Me. mg in
