W. l-lughes and The many friends of holiness. lf shows whaT can be done by a man wiTh a vision and a will To work. Upon The resignafion of Dr. l-lughes, Dr. F. B. Haynes became presidenf. Under The leader- ship of This scholarly and culfured man The col- lege and academy were made separaTe uniTs. Because of his fervenf missionary zeal There was a wholesome spirifual life on The campus. The STudenT Volunfeers, E. STanley Jones among Them,lwere responsible for a greaT revival. Their organizaTion was very spirifualq Their meefings were The besT held on The campus: and already They had represenTaTives in India, Japan, Persia, Cuba, Korea, and The Philippines. ln The summer of I906 The firsT move was made Toward The presenf campus when The Board purchased Bellevue College, a Presby- Terian school, siTuaTed on The norTh side of Wil- more. This campusof Ten acres included Two large brick buildings and Three cisTerns. The social rule policies of l-lughes and l-laynes differed.
