'rr . we W-at wr. a fm: Seven years ago, in response to a growing demand within the Free Methodist Church for seminary training, Asbury ex- tended its welcome for the denomination to establish a foundation in affiliation with the Seminary. Since that time more than 70 students preparing for varying types of Christian service have graduated from the Seminary. During the academic year 62 students have been enrolled. The program of the Foundation has been under the direction of Dr. W. C. Mavis since its inception. Dr. Mavis, in ad- dition to his regular teaching load, has served as counselor for the Foundation students. Drs. Mason, Turner, and Livingston have also rendered valuable support to the program. The Foundation House is maintained with a growing library, most of which is in the field of Methodist development and thought. Other activities of the Foundation include a weekly prayer service, Susannes, social gatherings, and sponsorship of the Sunday evening Vespers. JAMES AND LEONE TAYLOR, CUSTODIANS VESPERS 61

When several Methodist students felt that by organizing a fellowship all of the Methodist students could be better assisted in meeting problems posed by trends in Methodism today. A primary objective is to withstand any theological trend which denies the following: The Deity of Christg the Vicarious Atonement, the Bodily Ressurrectiong the Second Coming of Jesus Christy the Authority of the Scriptures, as the infallible rule of faith and practice. Another major objective is to place in the hands ofthe members materials and programs that will assist them in maintaining the Wesleyan emphasis and an evangelicalministry, and to hold meetings in whichimportant men and leaders of the Methodist Church share their experiences for the purpose ofencouraging Methodist students in Asbury Seminary to meet the challenge of today.
