In addition to checking books in and out, they were responsible for keeping the books, cases, and furniture clean, helping with the reorganization of the card catalog, and rounding up overdue and stray books. Their job also inclu- ded the filing and stacking of books from the Educational Resource Center, the supplier of many new titles which were borrowed by the Ar-We-Va schools this year.

The Rappin' Rocket is the account of the events and activities happening monthly at AWV. Every issue of the Rappin' Rocket contains accounts of past events, calendar of future happen- ings, exchange news from neighboring schools, feature profiles of senior class members or fac- ulty, and sports stories. MARCHINC BA D REPRESENTS AWV ACROSS MIDWEST Various parades as well as football games were on the schedule for the Ar-We-Va Rocket Marching Band this year. The 7 5 member band under the di- rection of Mr. Richard Holmes helped to provide entertainment to crowds at several festivals and celebrations both local and distant. These places included: Westside, Denison, Carroll, Wall Lake, Storm Lake, Odebolt, and Rapid City, South Dakota. On June 1-4, the Rocket Marching Band participated with 54 other bands from across the United States and Can- ada in the 8th annual Dakota Days cele- bration held in Rapid City, South Dakota. The trip included a parade, a mass band concert under the direction of composer, Paul Yoderg a concert by the Stan Kenton orchestra, a tour of the Badlands, and also a sightseeing tour of the Black Hills where they visited the Reptile Gardens, Mount Rushmore, the Shrine of Democracy Wax Museum, Deadwood Cemetery, and also the opening seasonal performance of the Black Hills Passion Play in Spearfish. Chaperones for the trip were Mrs. Wenzel, Mrs. Sextro, Mr. and Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. Drum Majorette: Reesa Rothmeyer their regular football halftime performances Fred Podey, and Mrs. Lucille Clausen. 20 Band members assemble one of various formations
