ROCKET STAFF RECORDS YEAR'S EVENTS The Rocket Staff set out in the fall of 72 with a giant goal ahead of them, to record the school year in pictures and words, relating each event to the overall picture and publish- ing the story in one edition. Before the actual work began, the staff at- tended the Iowa High School Press Association's newspaper and yearbook workshop in Ames. ' This started each editor thinking about page layouts for his department and the book as a Whole. The editorial staff consisted of seven seniors: Dale Lenz, Reesa Rothmeyer, Darlys Ewoldt, Sherly Oeser, Carol Ragaller, Kathy Mason, and Diane Bruggeman. Junior staffers were Dave Meggers, Leesa Dettbarn, and Glo- ria Witt. Together they worked to meet their first shipment deadline of April 1. Genelli Studios of Sioux City set three dates for photographing groups, but candid shots were taken all year through the use of the school The staff set out to earn S 1500 through sub scriptions and advertising. Subscription Mana- ger Lanette Eck helped by Kaye Hoogestraat an Janet Meyer put in the final order of 180 year- books. Ad manager Jim North kept track of the money coming in as typists Linda Hiles, Janet Meyer, and Betty Herrig typed and mailed lette to business acquaintances. Much work was put into the original cover and endsheet design. The collage divider pages made it necessary to take more pictures during the year. The annual awards were given out different ly this year as the staff voted for two people they thought showed much dedication, coopera- tiveness, leadership, and originality. Darlys Ewoldt and Reesa Rothmeyer were presented th awards by Mrs. Ouverson, advisor. Working into the summer, the staff com- pleted their work on June 14. camera, staff owned cameras, and the local news- paper. Many of the prints were enlarged by Noble Photography and Carlson Studio of Denison.
