The band's first appear- ance was for the Arvada Harvest Festival parade. The long hours paid off when the band placed in the First Division at CSU Band Day. Members continued to work in the early fall every day before school to perfect their football performances. Both the band and the orchestra performed during the various assem- blies and programs throughout the year. 99 Expose Expose was formed for people who felt they needed more involvement. A very in- volved' sponsor, Mr. Jack Ponis, and Miss Karen Pederson were largely responsible for the club organization. Industrial Arts The Industral Arts Club was formed to aid the members of the club to help themselves, their school, and the so- ciety in which they live. The Arvada West Choir, under the di- rection of Mr. Monte Otto, performed for most of our major concerts. Their first performance was for the fall Music Festival. The choir entertained a large audience with selections from 'Camelot'. This years Christmas con- cert was rated as the 'best yet' by most students. The sounds of the season were heard by students in their classes as the Madrigals wandered through the halls singing carols the last day before vaca- tion. For the first time in the schools history, AW produced a large scale musical, 'Brigadoon'. Many of the choir members participated and helped to make the musical the suc- cess it was. 1968-1969 Madrigals Singing Talent Shared With School, Community 103 American Field Service International Understanding Promoted By AFS American Field Service promotes interna- tional understanding by bringing a foreign exchange student to our school. 242 245 SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME There's a new sun rising up angry in the sky. There’s a new voice crying we're not afraid to die. Let the old world make believe it's blind and deaf and dumb. But nothing can change the shape of things to come. There are changes lying ahead in every road. There are new thoughts ready and waiting to explode. When tomorrow is today, the bells may toll for some. But nothing can change the shape of things to come. Futures coming in and now, sweet and strong, And now I'm not going to hold it back for long. There are new dreams crowding out old realities. There's revolution sweeping in a life of fresh new breeze. Let the old world make believe it's blind and deaf and dumb. But nothing can change the shape of things to.come. B. Mann and C.
