Sharing ideas brings us all closer to one another. Learning to listen is the hardest thing for us all to do. But if you learn to listen, someone will finally listen to you. « • SAVM 4 Working Together Handing down knowledge and helping people out; Working together is what it's all about. Our wisdoms shared with one another, brings us all closer together. Working together helps friendship begin, and sharing becomes just a part of the plan. Sharing Physically Sharing physically by giving of yourself to one another, lending a helping hand and a warm embrace. Sharing a smile, a song and a laugh. How good it feels when you give of yourself. 10 11 Facilities As the year began our school was filled to the brim with Pomona High school students in the afternoon. Sharing is a part of life and sharing our facilities has helped us understand the cooperation that is needed the rest of our Sharing the Future Life in the past is a pleasant memory, but look to the future with hopes and desires. Join hands now and be one... Let children live in a home full of love; a love that will go on forever. And our lives will be shared with our freedoms cherished. Wherever we are and whatever we do, we will be as always... together. 15 The future looks bright with a new life in our midst. It's odd, you know . . those thirteen years, how fast they pass. The loves, the tears, the laughs, and fears. To learn so much in such a short time. It's something fantastic to look back on. Years full of friendships now slipping aside, as we go separate ways to meet new people and new friends. To share so much, it seems unreal. Remembering the years now ending in joy, and sorrow. We see a new life beginning tomorrow. 1.mm MOST INTELLIGENT Jan McKindley Richard Robinson SCHOOL SPIRIT Chris Cameron Henry Petitt BEST SMILE Mary Fields Nick Martin, not pictured MOST TALENTED Laura Smith Gary Younkerman MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED Cindy Beckman Warren Taylor BEST DRESSED Debbie Bruce Mike Westover FIGURE AND BUILD Michelle Bishop Fred Graefenhain BEST SENSE OF HUMOR Andrea Ridgeway Steve Jump 19 Class Officers: Cindy Jacobs, Secretary Jan McKindley, Vice-President Donna Kinnamon, President Senior Class of 74 Song: “Tomorrow is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life” Colors: Crimson and Pearl Flower: Peace Rose Motto: For everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven. It is necessary for both to share ideas and learn from one another. This can be accomplished in class as well as extra activities out of class. For example, on field trips, at parties, or just having a conversation after class. Principal Emphasizes Involvement of People Principal Jack Jost has changed the stereotype of what a principal is. Mr. Jost believes a high school cannot be run by one person. In this way he tries to organize the school in a way that many people can be involved in the decision making. Among his other responsibilities are the hiring of faculty and staff members, coordination of parent clubs and advisory committees, and clarification of school policy. He has worked with the students and faculty, and helped to unify the school through improvement of communication. 128 Administrators Serve Class, Student Areas Mr. George Meyers is the assistant principal in charge of curriculum. He is in charge of instructional programs, developing a master schedule, and teacher evaluation. He also coordinates data processing. Dr. Ron Feltes is the other assistant principal. He is in charge of all student related services. Directing and supervising the counseling staff and attendance office are among his duties. He also is in charge of admission of new students and student discipline. Mr. Ron Mitchell works very closely with Mr. Meyers in the general area of curriculum and instruction. His major responsibilities include registration, scheduling, and data processing. Mrs. Donna Brennan serves as director of student activities. Among her duties are coordinating extra-curricular events and supervising fund raising events. Mrs. Brennan is the Student Council Sponsor. Donna Brennan Ron Mitchell 129 Joan Crist David Mangum Patricia Frantz John Addison Susan Zuener Otfried Buelter Six Counselors Help The counselors provide as-assistance to students in many ways. Mr. John Addison is in charge of vocational counseling and has organized vocational seminars. In groups of five they try to explore the individual's interests which will hopefully lead to occupational prospects. Miss Joan Crist assists the college-bound student bv providing scholarship and college entrance information and counseling. Mr. Otfried Buelter, Mrs. Patricia Frantz, Mr. David Mangum, and Mrs. Susan Zuener assist students with individual problems, schedule changes and credit values. Mr. David Mangum was added to the counseling staff this year. 1J0 Five Direct Attendance, Mr. Tom Nicholls supervises the attendance office. His job is to supervise the daily attendance and make sure that attendance policies meet up to state requirements. Mr. Nichols also counsels students with attendance-related problems. Mr. Carl Churches directs the driver education program. This course tries to promote driving safety in hopes of developing students into better drivers. Mrs. Anne Dion, the school nurse, can be found at Arvada on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday mornings. Her duties include promotion of good health and counseling students with health-related problems. This need is created by every person who goes through a whole year, seeing the same people, performing the same basic routine, for that seemingly long yet quickly passing, period of time. In order to make the stay a little more exciting, students meet at regular and irregular intervals to share interests that they have in common. That is the purpose of having varied activities that stimulate pupils' interests in subjects beyond the limited teachings of the classroom. Extracurricular activities allow the person who may at times feel like a number or an unimportant figure wandering through the hallways to participate in an organization where he may express himself herself by actively doing something with an immediate purpose. 217 HERO Students Learn Through Work, Class HERO is a class designed for seniors who are interested in home economics-related occupations such as child care, nurse's aide, and interior decorating. This marked the beginning of our gas shortage. Most stations were closed by 10 a.m. because their allotment was sold. With the gas shortage, prices jumped, stations closed on Sundays and gas was not always easy to find. Another problem we faced was fuel to heat our homes, schools and businesses. The President asked that we set our thermostats at 68°. Some schools in the area extended their Christmas vacation several days due to the shortage. The maximum speed limit was changed to 55 miles per hour on February 1. Signs of the energy crisis were present everywhere you went. Many businesses used half of their lights. More, but not enough cars had four to six passengers rather than one or two. The Christmas season wasn't as bright this year. Shopping centers and many Colorado citizens did not put up light displays. Denver put up the City and County Building lights as usual, but they were only on four nights. Many vacations were cut because of the gas shortage, and pleasure traveling was discouraged by the President. 250 SELF SERV REG 4T49 Z.2 •.
