The loss of many seniors last year does not discourage the Arvada track team, which is determined to win the fifth straight league championship this spring. The boys, under the direction of Coach Joe Weber, expect to win first place in the State B meet, which they so narrowly lost last year. Since the Arvada boys have won the cup at the Mines Meet for the last four years, they are qualified for the State Meet, and have no intentions of giving up their cup. Each boy has tried his best to win a place on the team so that he could Journey to Greeley or Colorado Springs early this season, and to Golden and Boulder for the District and State Meets. Starting out with a bang, the Redskins easily took the first two league tilts against Wheatrldge and Littleton. Next week the Redskins dropped into a gradual decline, losing two hard fought games on their own floor to Golden and Aurora. The losing streak continued the following week, as the Farmers of Wheatrldge avenged their first round defeat at the hands of the Redskins,by returning the compliment. At the same time that we slumped into the losing session,we suffered a severe blow in the los3 of Robert Muench, who was unable to play again this season because of an injury to his knee. With but three games remaining, the Redskins again struck their stride, and in close,hard-fought games managed to wrest the last three contests from their opponents, thus tying with Golden for second. Redskins again were the victims of the Demon attack and so lost a berth in the District Meet, but they remained tied for second in the league.
