XA 'Z ZW ff X CLASS News spreads fast, and it soon reached me that Arundel High School had been all remodeled. Since I hadn't seen it for ten years, I decided to drive over. As I entered the driveway, a yellow convertible that resembled a rocket flew past me, and parked in the vacant lot. Out stepped William Cronmiller with a beautiful blonde on his arm. Anyone I ever knew, I wonder . . . As I approached the school, there was such a mob! I soon discovered the reason-this.was a reunion of the Senior Class of 1951! I stepped into the lobby and was greeted by two charm- ing ladies. They looked familiar and yet . . . why, of course! It was I ean Dorsey and Evelyn House. They told me they had secretarial jobs in New York. They both certainly looked prosperous. Down the hall, I saw four strong-looking men discussing sports. Wilbur Walker, now play- ing for the Yankees, was telling Terry Skerritt, who plays pro-soccer, how he hit a homerun and saved the World Series for the Yanks. Terry said he was doing all right for himself, too. He just Won a midget auto race-racing is one of his hobbies. Nathan Childs, who plays football for Hopkins, was telling Harry F eitz how he made a touchdown in the last minute of play to save the game. Harry now plays basketball for the Bullets, and is the highest scorer. The coach for the Bullets is Lennie COLORS: Thomas. Remember Lennie? The first person to arrive at this Senior Class Reunion was Kenton Mullenax. When he does not have to come to class, he's right on time. Kenton's a big business executive now. I see some people all dressed in white coming down the hall . . . our nurses . . . Bertha Bur- nezley, Katherine Honor, Shirley Higgs, and Kitty F ox. Kitty's uniform looks a little differ- ent because it's an army uniform. The girls are discussing the latest aches and pains. Two smartly-dressed women just came in the door. They're old friends, Alice Lambert and Hazel Lemaster. Alice has just returned from Texas with her husband. Music starts, and Hazel and Alice swing into Arthur Murray's newest dance step. Well, here are two old friends. Of course, it's Shirley Tester and lack. They're finally mar- ried and have stopped arguing. They only have one quarrel now-which school is better, Arun- del or Glen Burnie. She soon engages in a dis- cussion with Ramona Pumphrey and Ioyee Clark, who are both authorities on the prob- lems of married life. Who's that suntanned gentleman coming this way? Wesley Snapp, just returned from South America, where he is Y.M.C.A. Director. That

Blue and White gentleman with him Thomas Sjoding, editor of Life Magazine. He started out as just a reporter. The girl who made everyone's head turn as she walked into the room just now was Betty Barker. She's a model in New York. I heard she was offered a long-term movie contract recently. Sheis wearing one of the latest crea- tions from the elite dress shop in New York owned by Mary Curtin and Susanne Bofwie. They also have a shop in Paris. Susanne designs the clothes, and Mary makes them. The secretaries of our class, Debbie King, Helen Dafwes, Mary Ann Wolf and Florence Phelps are all here, too. They have high government positions in Washington. Florence works for a senator named Charles Carlson. The three men coming down the hall, talking very seriously together, are Admiral Roger Shanahan, and Generals Walter Mueller and Paul Milfwicz. Paul didn't think he'd like the army, but he's been a big success. Looks like they've all done all right for themselves. What's that noise coming from the shop? Ker- mit Thompson, our new F .F.A. teacher, is try- ing to make his students quiet down. He must be having trouble! The gentleman with gray hair talking to Kermit is Fred Hintz. He's now a contractor and builder, and has just completed his biggest job-remodeling Arundel. A hush has fallen over the crowd. Betty Anne Waters and Dorothy Burns are going to play a concert on twin pianos. They came down to attend the reunion from a long engagement at Carnegie Hall. We regret to say that Fay Shaolaelford is not with us. She accompanied Buck Rogers on his most recent trip to the moon, they've lost the map and are having a little trouble getting back to earth. Warner Miller has just arived from Hollywood. He's stand-in for Tyrone Power, and will soon make a picture of his own. The new coaches at Arundel are Bob McLeay and Evelyn Lang. Arundel has won every game since they've taken over. The ladies drawing on the board are Barbara Gates and Betty Blevins, noted commercial art- ists. I hear Barbara is giving up her career soon to settle down. The two gentlemen coming toward us are easy to recognize- Warren Buoy and james Dunivin. james is now an accountant, and Warren is head salesman for the Pepsodent Tooth Paste Company. That famous Pepsodent smile is still in operation! Emily Stubbe has just returned from her trip around the world. She's going to compare notes with Charles Hoover, who is about to start around the equator in the newest and fastest jet. We heard a famous shop on Fifth Avenue was under new management. It's true, and the new owner is juliana Walsh, with her is her old friend, Mary Boesser, who just flew back from Ireland where she spent the summer visiting rel- atives. She's wearing a bright green suit. Arundel has a new Physics teacher, Mr. David Clayton. He just gave a stiff test, and his stu- dents are certainly hoping they passed it. As for me, I always said I'd be a career girl, and it really has turned out that way. I am Super- intendent of Nurses at Maryland General. It really has been grand to come down and see all the successful folks who were Seniors at Arundel back in '5l. But then, I always knew they'd make good! BYVHELEN KAI-:RING -ff P'-'P I --'jf .:- -.
