lames Wilbur Chadwick Although the Knights Won only one game this season we're proud of our coach, team, Pep Club, and cheer leaders. They Worked hard, they fought hard, lt's this quality that makes real men and Women. FOOTB LL Ten lettermen were on hand to answer the call of coach Iames Chadwick as the l947 team began to take shape. Headed by lohn Schrock, official captain for the squad, veterans Harold Crist, Keith Phillips, Olin Riggs, and Paul Fleming-all seniors -whipped into line and began work with the many inexperienced boys out for football this year. Measured in touchdowns and victories, this sea- son was not a success for the knights, but consid- ered from another standpoint, that of experience and training, it was a definite step forward. Merrill Lacy, a junior, looked promising as quar- terback, Ronnie Fults, a freshman, did a swell job both at fullback and halfback. Tuffy Dicks and Olin Riggs were responsible for most of the aerial Warfare. Cue-ball McKnelly, Dizzy Dean, Deke Traxler, Red Lowe, Shorty Schrock, Wayne Fleming, and others on the squad stayed in there and fought when the going was tough. These boys will be the backbone of next year's team.
