CALE DAR OF EVENTS AUGUST 28--Opening of school. 122 students enrolled in school. SEPTEMBER 4-Labor Day-and did we Laborl 5-P, F. A. organized. 8-Boys' Round-up. 9-Girls' Mixer. 12-Organization of the Latin Club. 12-The Home Economics Club was organized. 18-Commerce Club organized. l8-Initiation of the F. F. A. boys. Tough Luck Boys! 20-State Home Economics Inspector visited school-What a time the girls hadl 27-State High School Inspector visited the various classes. Mr. Black was formerly the Douglas County Superintendent. OCTOBER 13-End of the first six weeks. 16--Home Economics potluck and initiation. 20--Homecoming. These events included a par'ade, the Arthur-Tuscola game, the play, and the dance. The band gave a nice exhibition during the game. 24-Regular meeting of the F. F. A. NOVEMBER 7-Latin banquet postponed because of schedule conflicts. 8--Rev. O. F. Bolman, Rev. W. T. Nichols, and Rev. I. B. Smith were here in the interest of the revival being held at the Christian church. 9-Home Economics girls served the football boys a banquet And what appetites they had! 22--Mr. Spieth from Olney took pictures of the school for the yearbook, 23-24-Thanksgiving holidays. V 24-End of the six weeks period. 30-Iunior Class Play Cross My Heart . DECEMBER 8-Rev. O. F. Penticoff and Rev. loseph Brookshire were here to speak in the interest of the Methodist revival. 13-l5-Moultrie County Tournament. Arthur came out the victor over Sullivan, 29-24. -Progress dinner served by the Home Economics girls. -Band Vesper Concert. The band gave a splendid program. -Faculty-Board dinner served by the Home Economics Club. -Conference game with Arcola. What a trouncing they got, 120-12. eOakland game there. A close gamel 47-44. -Latin Club Christmas party. Many useless gifts were received. 22--School Christmas party. Exchange of gifts was made. The begin- ning of the Christmas holidays. IANUARY 1-Invitational Tournament at Decatur. We took third place. 2-School re-opened after the holidays. We played Sullivan there in a close game 24-28. -A trip to Cerro Gordo gave the boys a 57-37 victory. -Rev. Varanoff, a Russian, addressed the students. -Army-Navy E program for the Progress. The band furnished part of the entertainment. -l2-Semester Examinations. Oh Woe! -Arthur-Tuscola game here-a gain for us of 57-33. 15-Beginning of the second semester. 16-More grief. C LEND R OF EVENTS 16-We trounced Newman, 65-24. 19-Arcola got another terrible defeat, 97-18. 26-Final plans made for the Latin Banauet to be held Feb. l5. 26-Atwood played here-another win for us, 38-28. 30-Feb. 2-Okaw Valley Tournament. We took second place. FEBRUARY 6-Sullivan played here and in a tough scrap and defeated us in the last few seconds of the game, 55-57. 9-Bement and Arthur played at Bement. Another win for us, 80-45. 12-l..incoln's Birthday-a holiday. Some of the Home Economics girls served as models for the Chamber of Commerce program. 13-Atwood took a better victory from us, 29-35. 14-Theater party and get-together for the Commerce students. Refresh- ments were served at Whoopy's. 15-Latin Banquet. Faculty members and their wives were guests. Dick Bradford and Carol Howell were tried. as offenders in the court of love. 16-Oakland played here. We won the gamefeasily with a score of 62-27. 19-Sgt. Kelley from the State Police force addressed the students in a special assembly. 20-24-We played and won in the District Basketball tournament. Our final opponent was Atwood. 21-Mr. Spieth completed the pictures for us. 22-Rev. F. E. Pyle and Rev. Hansen were here in the interest of the Baptist Revival. Rev. Hansen spoke on the subject, The Man No- body Knows . 26-Farmers' Evening School Banquet served by the Home Economics Girls. 27-March 2-Regional Tournament at Mattoon. 28-The basketball schedule ended. A bitter defeat by Sullivan in our first game of the tournament. MARCH 1-Grade cards went out for the first six weeks in the second semester. 5-Athletic Banquet. 8-Home Economics Girls served a luncheon for the Iunior Womens Club. ll-The band took part in the program given at the Methodist Church. 15-This Yearbook went to press. l9-Frank Q. Brown, Chicago Technical College will address the students on the subject, The Challenge of America. 21-Father and Son Banquet sponsored by the F. F. A. The Home Economics girls served. 29-Annual Spring Dance sponsored by the Commercial Club. 30-April l-Easter observance. APRIL 6-End of the six Weeks period. Only one more to go. 13--Senior Class Play. 2l-District music contest. MAY 5-Sectional music contest. lU-Commercial club picnic. ll-Band's Spring Concert. 12-Iunior-Senior Banquet. 16- l 7-Final Examinations. 18-Award Night. 20-Baccalaureate. 21-Commencement. 50
